It all started with a smell…
If you know me in real life, you'll know that my husband and I live in a 1957 Eichler home. For those not in the know, Eichlers are a type of mid-century style home build in the 50s and 60s. As with many older houses, they're full of surprises… and well—we stumbled upon a not-so-pleasant surprise recently…
It all started with a smell. My husband, Tyler, is what I like to call a "super smeller," which is to say that he's typically pretty sensitive to ambient odors. As in—if we walk into a hotel room, within the first 30 seconds he can tell if someone has smoked in the room... in the past decade. Yeah. We removed a few tiles from the wall above the bath tub which, of course, resulted in a gaping hole in the paneling and newly non-functioning faucet. Rookie mistake, I know. Replace all of the paneling with dry-wall and water-resistant material around the tub itself
Remove and replace the bath tub, preferrably with one that has a deeper soaking depth than the measly 9" of our current tub.
